2025 SURGICAL CAMP AT ST.JOHH XXIII HOSPITAL ABER

St. John XXIII Hospital Aber, in collaboration with Westminster Medical Missions, West Virginia, is excited to announce a Surgical Camp scheduled to take place at our facility from January 28th to February 3rd, 2025. This charitable initiative is designed to bring world-class surgical care to those who need it the most, offering life-changing procedures completely free of charge.

If you or someone you know has been waiting for surgery but cannot afford the cost, this is an incredible opportunity to receive professional care at no expense.

Free Expert Surgical Services

During the Surgical Camp, a team of highly experienced and expert surgeons will perform a wide variety of surgical procedures. Each procedure will be conducted with the utmost care, using advanced medical techniques and modern equipment to ensure the best outcomes for all patients. Below are the surgeries that will be offered:

General Surgeries:

  • Herniorrhaphy (Hernia Repair): A hernia occurs when part of an internal organ pushes through a weak spot in the surrounding muscle or tissue. Herniorrhaphy is the process of repairing the weakened or ruptured tissue to prevent complications such as pain or infection.
  • Thyroidectomy (Goiter Surgery): The thyroid is a small gland in the neck that helps regulate your metabolism. When it becomes enlarged (called a goiter) or develops nodules, it can affect the body’s functions. A thyroidectomy involves removing part or all of the thyroid gland to improve your health.
  • Hydrocelectomy (Testicular Surgery): This procedure is performed to remove a hydrocele, a fluid-filled sac that causes swelling in the scrotum. It is generally done to relieve discomfort or to address complications.
  • Cyst Removals and Lipoma Excision: Cysts and lipomas are non-cancerous growths that can develop under the skin. Cyst removal involves taking out the swollen sac, while lipoma excision is the removal of fatty tissue lumps that are usually harmless but can cause discomfort.
  • Mayo’s Repair: This procedure is typically done to treat certain types of abdominal wall hernias, reinforcing the muscle layers to prevent recurrence.

Gynecological Surgeries:

  • Partial Hysterectomy: A partial hysterectomy involves removing part of the uterus, typically done to treat conditions such as fibroids or endometriosis. It’s a significant step in managing chronic reproductive issues.
  • Total Hysterectomy: A total hysterectomy is the complete removal of the uterus, and it may also involve the removal of the cervix, ovaries, and fallopian tubes, depending on the medical condition. This is often necessary for conditions like cancer or severe pelvic disease.

These procedures are being offered as part of our ongoing commitment to improving health outcomes for our community. We understand that medical expenses can be overwhelming, so thanks to the generous sponsorship of Westminster Medical Missions, all surgeries during this camp are completely free for eligible patients.

How to Get Involved ?

Participating in this life-changing event is simple. Here’s what you need to do:

Step 1: Initial Assessment

Visit our Outpatient Department (OPD) for an initial assessment. During this visit, our medical team will evaluate your condition and determine if you are eligible for surgery. Additional tests or investigations may be recommended based on your health status.

Step 2: Booking Your Procedure

Once you have been assessed, if you qualify for surgery, you will be booked for a procedure. You will be informed of the exact date and time to report for your surgery. Bookings will close by the first week of January 2025, so it’s important to complete your assessment and secure your spot as soon as possible.

Step 3: Pre-Operative Preparation

On the day of your surgery, report to the Surgical Ward where you will undergo a re-assessment and receive pre-operative care. This preparation includes ensuring that you are fit for surgery and understanding the steps involved in your procedure.

Step 4: Surgery

Our team of highly skilled surgeons will perform your surgery with precision and care. The procedures will be carried out in a sterile, safe environment, and we will make every effort to ensure that you are comfortable throughout the process.

Step 5: Post-Operative Care and Discharge

After your surgery, you will be transferred to the Surgical Ward for recovery. Our medical staff will closely monitor your progress to ensure you are healing well. You will receive advice on post-surgery care and will be discharged once the medical team deems you fit for release. We will provide guidelines for at-home care to support your recovery process.

Why You Should Attend ?

There are several key reasons why you should not miss out on this opportunity:

  1. Completely Free Services: All procedures, from consultations to post-operative care, will be fully sponsored by Westminster Medical Missions. This initiative ensures that you do not have to worry about any costs associated with your treatment.
