Brief History
St. John XXIII Hospital-Aber, a private not-for-profit institution, has been a cornerstone of quality healthcare in Oyam District, Northern Uganda, and beyond since its founding in 1953. Established as a humble dispensary by the Comboni Missionary Sisters, the facility was officially elevated to hospital status on March 29, 1969.
In its early years, Aber Hospital was recognized for providing essential nursing care. Today, it has grown into a 220-bed General Hospital, offering comprehensive clinical care alongside a range of specialized services like CT scan, internal medicine, Dialysis and kidney care, pediatric, Accredited SINAS Laboratory, pharmacy, endoscopy, colonoscopy, Obstetrics and Gynecology, emergency care, surgery specialties like general surgery and Orthopedic Surgery.
Looking to the future, we are committed to upgrading clinical capabilities further and constructing a nurse training school to strengthen healthcare capacity in the region.
