Dr. Denis Okello is a dedicated radiologist at St. John XXIII Hospital-Aber, bringing over a decade of comprehensive medical experience. His expertise spans general practice, maternal and child health, HIV care, obstetrics, and surgery. Recently he completed his Master of Medicine in Radiology at Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST), Dr. Okello is passionate about the transformative power of radiology. He describes his field as “the magic of medicine” — enabling physicians to diagnose without surgery and serving as the “eyes” of fellow doctors.
Dr. Okello’s career journey began in 2011 after earning his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from Gulu University. His initial role as Outreach Team Leader at Marie Stopes International Uganda allowed him to develop a foundation in public health and maternal care, a focus he expanded upon at St. John XXIII Hospital-Aber. Here, he has taken on leadership roles, including Head of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department, Chairperson of the Medicine and Therapeutic Committee, Chairperson of the COVID-19 Task Force, and Acting Deputy Medical Director. Dr. Okello’s unwavering dedication to patient care and continuous learning drives his practice, backed by certifications from the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council (UMDPC).
As a radiologist, Dr. Okello combines his clinical expertise with a deep commitment to advancing diagnostic capabilities, ensuring that his patients receive the best possible care at every stage of treatment.
