Description

The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for conducting laboratory investigations to support disease diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and control. The role involves ensuring quality standards, advising clinical teams, and maintaining laboratory safety protocols.

Responsibilities
  1. Perform laboratory investigations and provide accurate interpretation of results.
  2. Guide clinical staff on proper specimen collection, handling, and transportation.
  3. Implement and monitor quality assurance measures and laboratory safety protocols.
  4. Compile, analyze, and submit laboratory performance reports.
  5. Maintain laboratory inventory and ensure optimal functionality of equipment.
  6. Requisition and account for laboratory materials, supplies, and sundries.
  7. Support primary healthcare programs through laboratory services.
  8. Supervise and mentor laboratory personnel, including conducting performance appraisals.
  9. Ensure strict adherence to professional and ethical codes of conduct.
  10. Engage in research initiatives to enhance laboratory operations and service delivery.
Qualifications
  • Education: Diploma in Medical Laboratory Techniques from a recognized institution.
  • Licensing: Must be registered and licensed with the Allied Health Professionals Council.

  • Strong IT skills for data entry and analysis.
