Commemorating World Nursing Day & International Day of the Midwife 2025
At St. John XXIII Hospital Aber, we proudly joined the global community to mark the International Day of the Midwives (5th May) and the International Day of the Nurses (12th May), two significant occasions dedicated to celebrating the dedication, innovation, and impact of nursing and midwifery worldwide.
May 12th also marks the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing, whose legacy continues to inspire healthcare professionals everywhere. This year’s celebrations provided a platform for our staff to reflect on achievements, discuss challenges, and showcase innovations aimed at advancing patient care.
This year’s themes were:
- Nurses: Nursing power to Change the World
- Midwives: Midwives, Critical in Every Crisis
National Participation: Elevating Maternal and Neonatal Health
Our hospital team actively participated in the National Midwives Day celebrations held in Hoima (3rd–5th May), organized by the National Midwives Association of Uganda and the Ministry of Health. St. John XXIII Hospital Aber proudly presented three key scientific abstracts:
